Introducing new Enhanced Login Security (ELS), a free and easy way to help prevent fraud. The addition of this security enhancement to Powerco's PC Banking and PC BillPay services means members will be now be prompted to enroll in ELS to make their financial transactions more secure online.
Beginning May 21, 2007, all PC Banking/PC BillPay users will need to enroll in the free ELS service to access their accounts. Enrollment is simple and quick. Detailed, step-by-step instructions are available at the bottom of the page. See the Enhanced Login Security FAQs section for answers to common questions about the service, including how to register multiple computers in ELS.

What is Enhanced Login Security?
Enhanced Login Security (ELS) is Powerco Federal Credit Union's online authentication system for PC Banking and PC BillPay users. This unique feature adds another layer of online security to help prevent fraud and identity theft.
Why is it important for me to enroll in ELS?
ELS requires online banking users to provide something additional beyond today's username and password to gain access to their personal and financial information. This enhanced security means that even if a user has their password stolen in a phishing attack or by malicious software, the fraudster cannot access online accounts because they do not possess the additional factors needed, which are harder to steal. By offering ELS, Powerco Federal Credit Union can give members peace of mind when using our online services.
How do you know it's me?
ELS utilizes multifactor authentication. That means, that in addition to your username and password, ELS looks for a "digital fingerprint", similar to a cookie, that identifies your computer as being registered in our ELS service. If the digital fingerprint is not found, we will present you with "Challenge Questions." These are personal questions that you choose and the answers that you supply during the registration process for ELS. These questions must be answered correctly in order for your online banking accounts with Powerco to be accessed.
How do I enroll in Enhanced Login Security?
If you haven't logged into your account recently or if you have a new account and have not logged in, after your next successful login you will receive an automatic prompt to enroll in this free security service. Enrollment will take just a few minutes and the computer you're using will remain enrolled in the service until you choose to deactivate it.
If your account is already enrolled in ELS and you need to enroll additional computers in the service, log into your account using the unenrolled computer. You'll need to provide your answers to your Challenge Questions to sign on. Once you are logged into your account, click on the User Options tab at the top of the screen. You'll see an option for Enhanced Login Security in the list. Choose this option and follow the onscreen prompts to complete the quick enrollment process.
Am I required to enroll in Enhanced Login Security?
Yes. Powerco requires all of users of our online banking services to enroll in this robust security feature. Incidences of identity theft and fraud continue to rise at an alarming rate. ELS can help protect you from the costly and devastating effects of this burgeoning crime.
Regulatory changes from the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) mandate that all of our PC Banking and PC BillPay users subscribe to the heightened security of Enhanced Login Security. Participation in ELS will be mandatory beginning May, 21, 2007.
Will I notice the change?
ELS is invisible during your online banking experience on a registered computer. Once you have validated the computer with ELS during the initial registration, you'll simply login using your username and password as usual from that point on. When logging in from a computer or browser that has not been digitally fingerprinted, you will be presented with Challenge Questions to verify your identity.
I use different browsers on my computer. Do I need to sign into my account from each browser to activate the ELS service?
Yes. You will need to login and complete the short registration process from each browser you frequently use. Doing this will ensure that you receive the extra security of ELS no matter which browser you may be using, i.e. Explorer, Netscape, etc.
Can I register multiple computers?
Yes. If you frequently do your banking from several different computers, you should complete the registration process for each computer. Remember, ELS works by providing a second layer of protection beyond your customary username and password - a digital fingerprint. Once enrolled in ELS, you will be prompted to answer challenge questions when logging in from a computer that does not contain your ELS digital fingerprint. To avoid having to answer challenge questions during each login, we encourage you to register all computers you'll frequently be using so that each can receive the digital fingerprint needed for verification of your identity. The only exception is that we caution you to not enroll a public access computer - for example, a computer at public library or Internet café.
How do I register multiple computers?
Login to your home banking account using the computer you wish to register. After successfully answering your Challenge Questions, click on the "User Options" tab. Select the "Enhanced Login Security" link. Click the radio button beside "Add extra security to this computer" and click "submit."
If I get a new computer can I remove Powerco's ELS service from my old computer?
Yes. If you wish to remove the extra security protection from your computer for any reason - for example, you're replacing your current computer with a newer model - log into your Powerco online account and follow the prompts under Enhanced Login Security in the User Options area for instructions on removing ELS from your computer.
How do I login from an unenrolled computer?
When logging into your Powerco account from a computer that is not recognized, you will be presented with Challenge Questions. Simply answer the questions correctly to gain temporary access to your accounts while maintaining the integrity of your ELS security service.
I forgot the answers to my Challenge Questions. What do I do?
Using a computer in which you have already enrolled in ELS, sign into your home banking account and go to "User Options". Select "Challenge Question Setup." Select new challenge questions/answers for your account.
For additional assistance, contact Powerco by phone at (404) 506-3750 or 1-800-633-5217 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our friendly customer service representatives will happy to provide assistance and help you regain access to your account.
I deleted my cookies and now I can't log into my Powerco account. Do I need to reenroll in ELS?
Yes. The digital fingerprint for ELS is stored much like a cookie within your computer system. If you delete the cookies on your computer, you may also delete the ELS fingerprint. If that happens, simply log into your Powerco account and reenroll the computer in the ELS service under the User Options tab.
How do I change the Challenge Questions that I am asked and/or their answers?
You can change which questions will be used as your Challenge Questions and you can change the correct answers to these questions at any time by logging into your account, going to User Options and then selecting Challenge Question Setup.
I received an error message when answering a Challenge Question but I know the answer.
If you enter an incorrect answer for a Challenge Question, you will receive an error message and will not be able to proceed with your login attempt. If this happens, close the browser application and then reopen your browser and proceed to the PC Banking/PC BillPay login screen. Attempt to answer your question again, carefully keying your answer to ensure that you are spelling your answer correctly.

After you have successfully enrolled your Powerco account in Enhanced Login Security, you will need to set your Challenge Questions if you have not previously done so.
This process involves selecting questions and providing answers to preset Challenge Questions. The Challenge Questions provide additional security for your account and you can use them to access your account from a computer that is not enrolled in ELS.
You should select questions and answers that are easy for you to remember - and hard for others to guess.
Follow these steps to set up your Challenge Questions:
Please note:
To ensure the security of this information, select questions whose answers are easy for you to remember. Do not print, store, save or share this information with anyone. If someone else obtains this information, it could be used in the same way that your Password is used to gain access to your accounts.

Keeping your online financial and personal information secure and confidential remains one of our top priorities.
Powerco Federal Credit Union ensures your privacy and security by offering technology and services designed by the brightest minds in the online banking industry.
Encryption: The privacy of communications between you (your browser) and our servers is ensured via encryption. Encryption scrambles messages exchanged between your browser and our online banking server.
Password Complexity: It is important to verify that only authorized persons log into online banking. This is achieved by verifying your password. When you submit your password, it is compared with the password we have stored in our secure data center.
We allow you to enter your password incorrectly a limited number of times; too many incorrect passwords will result in the locking of your online banking account until you call us to reinitialize the account. We monitor and record "bad-login" attempts to detect any suspicious activity (i.e. someone trying to guess your password).
You play a crucial role in preventing others from logging on to your account. Never use easy-to-guess passwords.
Examples:
Never reveal your password to another person. You should periodically change your password in the User Option section of Internet Banking.
Secure Architecture: The computers storing your actual account information are not linked directly to the Internet.
Various access control mechanisms, including intrusion detection and anti-virus, monitor for and protect our systems from potential malicious activity. Additionally, our online banking servers are fault-tolerant, and provide for uninterruptible access, even in the event of various types of failures.
Online Banking Features that Promote Security
We provide a number of additional security features in online banking to help protect you:
Timeout: This prevents curious persons from continuing your online banking session if you left your PC unattended without logging out. You may set the timeout period in online banking's User Options screen. We recommend that you always sign off (log out) when done banking online.
Check Images: View an exact facsimile of your check transactions online to help prevent fraud.
